In 1961, following her husband's election as President of the United States, Jackie Kennedy became the First Lady. Prestigious, the S.T.
It was the gift chosen by André Malraux, then General de Gaulle's Minister of Cultural Affairs, who in 1962 presented the First Lady with a gold Ligne 1 lighter adorned with a discreet gold ‘J’. Very touched, she developed a strong attachment to this elegant object, which was both functional and intimate.
Nearly ten years later, S.T. Dupont received a special order: Jackie Onassis Kennedy wanted a biro to match her lighter. The company did not manufacture writing instruments, but decided to take up the challenge.An icon of design
The first S.T. Dupont pen
The brass and design of its Ligne 1 inspired S.T. Dupont craftsmen, who transposed the vertical metal guilloche of the lighter's driver to the body of a pen.
The body was then faceted, before being adorned with a vertical guilloche and launched on the market. Called the Classique, it marks the beginning of the Art of Writing according to S.T. Dupont and became, forever, an icon of 70's design.

The new Classique
The new Classique pen has all the DNA of its predecessor, in a thicker silhouette. Less slender than the original, the new Classique boasts divine proportions. Sublime materials, precious finishes (gold and palladium) and a sophisticated colour palette define the elegance of the Classique.
