MASTER LIGHTER
S.T. DUPONT x FRANCK MULLER
A FUSION OF EXCELLENCE FROM TWO DIFFERENT CRAFTS
Franck Muller was founded in Switzerland in 1991 when S.T. Dupont was approaching its 120th anniversary. With its in-house workshop, abundant creativity, and influential culture of innovation, this complication expert soon became one of the most prestigious names in Swiss luxury watchmaking.
Founded in 1872, S.T. Dupont designs handmade luxury accessories in its workshops in Faverges, in the French Alps. Drawing on its extensive creativity and expertise, the company launched the first luxury lighter in 1941. Constantly redesigned with goldsmith's guilloches and Chinese lacquer, it quickly became an iconic item known worldwide.
By joining forces, these two unique crafts are given a new lease of life in these Master Lighters with watch movements, a genuine synthesis of traditional craftsmanship, and complex innovation.
It took over two years to develop S.T. Dupont x Franck Muller’s “Master Lighters”, incredibly intricate objects that are a real technical feat. This unique partnership brings together Franck Muller's masterful watchmaking and the exquisite goldsmithing expertise of S.T. Dupont's artisans, creating exceptional pieces.
THE FIRST EVER LIGHTER WITH WATCH COMPLICATION
REAL INNOVATION
Fusion of Franck Muller’s masterful watchmaking with the precious metalwork skill of the S.T. Dupont artisans, to create an exceptional item.
The technical feat lies in that the axis connecting the movement to the hours and minutes hands runs right through the gas tank of the lighter. This ingenious connection ensures precise energy transmission, enabling a reliable and harmonious display of time. The elegant integration of this mechanism underlines the watch's technical innovation and refined aesthetics.
MASTER WATCHMAKER
Franck Muller's signature “Swiss Made” skeleton movement with power reserve has been adapted here to create a double-sided skeleton watch with a three-day power reserve in the lighter’s body.
The back side of the lighter reveals the watch's skeleton movement in all its glory. The dial on the front is identical and revealed behind the mechanical components of the skeleton movement. To bring this strikingly visual part of the lighter into sharper focus, Franck Muller's engineers have devised a system for displaying the seconds hand on this skeleton face, thus affirming their skill in the manufacture of horological complications.
MASTER OF LIGHTER
Iconic S.T. Dupont lighter was reinvented using cutting-edge micromechanics and the expertise of S.T. Dupont master goldsmiths. Each engraving testifies to a skill handed down from generation to generation, transforming these lighters into works of art, transcending their primary function.
Using the famous "Clous de Paris" diamond guilloche, every detail is engraved with exceptional finesse. The dial of each piece is adorned with a sunburst guilloché pattern under 25 layers of lacquer, meticulously painted by hand.
Comprising 75 separate lighter pieces and 181-component watch mechanisms, this masterpiece requires over 100 hours of artisanal work. A testament to the expertise and dedication of our craftsmen that features the famous and distinctive "Cling" of S.T. Dupont lighters.
COLOR DREAMS COME TRUE
Iconic and one of the most famous complications made by Franck Muller, Color Dreams numbers are meticulously painted by hand, separately, for every color.
To allow a rainbow of colors, the satin bridges have been designed to accentuate the architecture of the piece, which is very strong. Color Dreams illustrates the passion for crafts and the art of details, which are characteristic of the Franck Muller manufacture.
Equipped with two sides, this object offers complete, fascinating animation. Its unique design gives it an almost living, evolving, and dynamic appearance. This sense of life and movement is accentuated by the attention to detail and precision of the mechanism, making it a particularly captivating piece.
EXQUISITE WORK OF ART
Master Lighters are available in four timeless designs: White, Color Dreams, Blue, and Black PVD. Each finishing is limited to 88 pieces and embodies a unique blend of tradition and innovation. Master Lighters embody the perpetual elegance proclaimed by both S.T. Dupont and Franck Muller.
